"Get Free" appears in Mario Van Peebles duo documentary Bring Your "A" Game/Fair game as a testimony to survival for black men. What isn't so obvious in the snippet used there, is that Tim'm's freedom is also wrapped up in the restrictive notions of what being a black man can be. Queer isn't a part of that. This songs suggests that freedom must embrace and affirm queerness. For that reason, and for the melodic and smooth baritone vocals over a jazz laden track by Eddy Royce, "Get Free" has, perhaps alongiside "Red Dirt" remained the most consistently requested songs in Tim'm's catalog.
