about

in the early 00s there was plenty of lamenting about Hip Hop being dead by Golden Era purists. Perhaps they were all mourning a time when Laffy Taffy and Soulja Boy weren't the billboard favorites...and yes, Tim'm was a part of that collective lament. In "Irony", a classic Golden Era sample-track produced by Brooklyn's Grand Royal, Tim'm coverts a popular spoken word piece to a cadence that makes you wonder if it was meant to be rapped all along. Clearly Hip Hop didn't die, but this work, like many others of the time, will remain the evidence of those most willing to fight for it. "O Say can you see..." is Hip Hop allegiance.
