It was important for Tim'm to create a song about a Black mother, who in spite of religious beliefs, has ALWAYS stood by her "gay" son. Ti'm'm never once questioned whether or not he could come home, as he is, without fear of rebuke or rejection. A collaboration with another self-proclaimed mama's boy, Philly-made producer Watkinz (who produced several tracks on the Snapshots project and one of the new additions on this Prodigal Son project) Moms is offers a smooth neo-soul loop as lyrical tribute to "moms" who love and accept their children. Against the tide of notions that black families cannot be accepting and affirming of gay family members, there are counterpoints that we don't get to hear about. Unfortunately, there are still too many youth are homeless because they don't have a moms who is accepting. It's tragic to have your flesh and blood turn their backs on for something about which you have little choice. God bless the cool moms of the world.
